12 Gauge - Fix'n To Die/Here It Comes Again

Illinois' 12 Gauge are an unsigned band aiming for big things. They've already released these two storming independent EPs with no record company help. Just imagine what they'll be capable of with a little support.

Recorded in May of '99, both EP's, Fix'n To Die and Here It Comes Again boast an aggressive, not-fucking-around-here attitude and, of course some extremely sizeable guitars courtesy of Dan Harshbarger.

The sound is polished, with plenty of drive and groove to the tracks and a chunk of samples cleverly inserted into the action, adding a dash more atmosphere and character. There are hardcore touches, recalling Transnational Speedway League-era Clutch and some super crunchy, thrashy guitars that Pantera wouldn't be ashamed of.

The vocals, too are impressive particularly on the two standouts from each EP, She Bitch with its incredibly catchy chorus and the absolutely blinding Unconscious which is possessed of a laid back stoner groove and feels truly organic.

There's lots to praise here, both EP's are genuine quality and are sure to please anyone who likes real rock with a mean streak. So it's [9] for Fix'n To Die and [8] for Here It Comes Again.

Both EP's are available for $5.00 each plus shipping and handling from www.12-gauge.com What are you waiting for? Get them bought.
